TEMP Pool Bartender Full-Time - The Roosevelt Hotel New Orleans, A Waldorf Astoria Hotel

A Bartender is responsible for preparing beverages and serving beverages and/or food to guests in the hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability.

What will I be doing?

As a Bartender, you would be responsible for preparing beverages and serving beverages and/or food to guests in the hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability. Specifically, you would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

Greet guests and respond to guest inquiries and requests in a timely, friendly and efficient mannerMix and garnish beverages according to recipe and portion control standardsPresent and serve beverages to guestsCheck guests for proper identification and serve alcoholic beverages to guests in accordance with federal, state, local and company laws and regulationsAccurately total, process and collect payments from guests to include, but not limited to, using the point-of-sale system, handling money, processing credit and debit cards, making change and processing gift certificates, cards and vouchersStock and maintain the bar to include, but not limited to, beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws and stirrers, condiments, glassware, ice and produceCut, store and ensure product quality of all beverage-related perishablesRespond professionally to inebriated guests, as needed

Supportive Functions

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the company.

Responsible for maintaining stock, cutting, and storing of all fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices and other perishables daily to ensure product quality. Locks up and stores all beverage, food and other equipment items, deposits cash drops and secures bank. Performs general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products as assigned by your supervisor to adhere to health standards. Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested e.g., special guest requests. Must adhere to all State, Federal and Corporate liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests to ensure all laws are being followed.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Must have basic knowledge of beverage preparation and service of various alcoholic beverages. Basic mathematical skills necessary to operate a cash register, make change, total guest checks, count total bank, prepare cash drops, total all other charges, and understand portion sizes. Basic English language writing skills necessary for completion of requisitions, balance sheets and vouchers. Sufficient manual dexterity in hands in order to use a knife to make garnish, pick up glassware and bottles, scoop ice, mix drinks, and reach overhead to retrieve stock. Ability to read, speak and understand the English language in order to communicate with guests and take orders. Ability to remember, recite and promote the variety of menu items.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS EDUCATION

High School graduate or equivalent preferred

Experience

No prior experience required, prior relevant bartending experience in the hospitality industry is preferred.

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES

Ability to obtain any government required license or certificate. Example: Washington Health Card Permit, Oregon Liquor Service Permit. CPR Certification and/or First Aid Training preferred.

GROOMING/UNIFORMS

All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance. Specific uniform guidelines and/or required articles of clothing will be explained to you as a part of the orientation process.
