📋 Role Overview & Responsibilities
Job Summary
Position provides sub-journeyman work in the performance of a variety of maintenance and repair, tasks in one or more craft areas. Responsible for make ready duties in apartments & residence halls, maintenance and repair work of painting, carpentry (countertops, doors, framing, drywall), furniture & equipment moving, light plumbing, basic appliance repair/installation, and light electrical. Position requires the ability to work effectively with others and in a team environment as well as independently when needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Two (2) years of experience in construction, maintenance and/or repair work.Requires a Texas class “C” driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
High School diploma or GED .Two plus (2+) years of experience in preforming a variety of sub-journeyman maintenance and repair tasks.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Performs multi-family housing & make ready duties including:sheet rock replacement and repair, plumbing, painting, appliance repair (removal and install), light carpentry, cabinetry, ceramic tile repair, counter tops, flooring repair including (vinyl tile & plank), wall texture, door & hardware (installation and repair).Assists journeyman & carpenters in major repair, maintenance, or construction projects.Provides quality customer service and ensures a comfortable living environment for students in University Housing.Performs emergency mechanical repairs until journeyman or supervisory personnel arrive.Serves as essential personnel to the University and is required to report to work during campus emergencies and/or closures.Performs other duties as assigned.Drives a UTA vehicle.
