Buyer

Thermal Care, a leading provider of industrial heat transfer solutions is a part of a larger corporation known as IPEG. IPEG, Inc. is a family of world-leading brands serving the global plastics, recycling and industrial heat transfer markets. In addition to Thermal Care, IPEG provides best in class manufacturing and business support services to its other brands which include Conair {the leading producer of auxiliary equipment for plastics processing}, Republic Machine {a recognized expert for single shaft shredding solutions} and Pelletron {a leading supplier of pneumatic conveying systems, dust removal systems and other related products}.

PurposeThe Buyer provides purchasing, sourcing, commodity, and supply base management expertise to ensure that all aspects of the sourcing process meet Thermal Care’s quality, surety of supply, and cost to meet corporate procurement requirements. This position reports to the Purchasing Manager and is located in Niles, Illinois.

Duties and ResponsibilitiesRaw materials, consumables, services, aftermarket parts and capital goodsWith accounts payable and receiving teams to resolve any invoice and/or shipment discrepanciesIn cross functional teams to develop strategies to source assigned commodity-based items at the lowest total cost of ownershipIn quarterly supplier scorecard processQuotes for new and existing materials as needed Collaborate with planning, engineering, sales, production, on status of material critical for production processRegular updates and/or reports to - management staff on cost improvements and new technologies or servicesUp regularly with suppliers to ensure part availability, expediting as requiredMRP and other data and propose/implement process improvements that reduce waste

Qualifications and Work Experience

Associate or bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (or related field) Position typically expects three (3) to five (5) years of direct/relevant experience based on scope of position; previous experience buy pipe/fitting/ and or mechanical parts/fixtures a plusTechnical purchasing and sourcing skillsRelies on clearly defined instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the jobDemonstrate flexibility when confronted with changeSelf-motivated and self-managing individualExcellent verbal and written communication skillsMust be able to calculate and analyze financial data such as ROI, Make vs. Buy, and other commercial requirementsMust be able to multitaskMicrosoft Office Suite and other PC skillsMRP/ERP system expertise. Experience with M2M a plus
