Fact-Checking Producer (Level 1 Journalist - Temp)

Reuters is looking for an early-career journalist with strong research and writing skills to join its dynamic fact-checking team. This temporary position based in New York will involve identifying viral content relating to misinformation topics in social media and writing comprehensive fact check articles to establish the facts . As a Fact-Checking Producer, you will be on a range of stories but an interest in U.S. politics is crucial ahead of the presidential elections, an exciting opportunity to help tackling misinformation around one of the most important stories globally.

About The Role

As a Fact-Checking Producer (Level 1 Journalist - TEMP), you will:

Work on an exciting project that aims to tackle misinformation on social media.Research misinformation about the midterm elections and other trending topics.Write clear fact checks that meet Reuters standards for accuracy and freedom from bias.Collaborate with our global fact-checking team.

About You

You're a fit for the role of Fact-Checking Producer (Level 1 Journalist - TEMP), if you:

Demonstrate an analytical approach and an ability to research independently Have deep familiar with communication styles on social media Show a proven interest in the U.S. political landscape and misinformation Show strong news judgement Be able to identify emerging trends and misinformation Prior experience in reporting, social media newsgathering or fact-checking would be a clear advantage. However, as full training will be given, a willingness to learn quickly is at least as important. This role has a daytime shift pattern and may include occasional weekend shifts.

The base compensation range for the role in any of those locations is $39 - $70. The base compensation range in other locations may vary.
