Production Supervisor

Summary

The Production Supervisor manages the day-to-day production activities of the hourly assembly employees in accordance with company policy, and product quality standards. This individual is expected to utilize labor hours efficiently and minimize non-value-added activity. The supervisor is responsible to identify and resolve production-related problems by working closely with the direct labor workforce and support personnel.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Manage hourly production personnelOversee all operations in department to maximize capacity and efficiencyControlling processes for various operations (including safety & quality)Promote and enforce safety policies and procedures (both company and regulatory) to decrease the potential for team member injuriesMaintain a safe and clean work environment by directing and educating team members on best practicesEnsure product is built to scheduled customer ship datesReview unfavorable work order variance and work with Manufacturing Engineering to drive improvementEvaluate each stage of the manufacturing process to ensure maximum efficiencySupport Manufacturing Engineering and Quality Engineering in the training of the hourly operatorsMaintain working relationship with the union by following the terms of the collective bargaining agreementResolve personnel problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions; recommending actionCommunicate and enforce company policies and initiate disciplinary actions as requiredDiscipline and coach employees who fall short of job expectationsEvaluate labor requirements and work with management to assure proper staffing levelsInvestigate and report information to provide realistic schedules to Planning and Customer ServiceMake recommendations for new equipment, process changes, shift suggestions, overtime, etc.Monitor and drive the production floor to execute to schedule requirements through ERP schedules or established Pull SystemResolve material shortages by working with Purchasing and PlanningDrive Continuous Improvement by implementing visual management tools for metrics and scheduling, organizing areas for smooth flow (5S, layouts, bins, FIFO principles)

Qualifications/Requirements

Supervisory experience preferredWire and Cable experience preferredHigh School Diploma or equivalent7+ years in a manufacturing environmentStrong written and verbal communication skillsExcellent computer skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office applicationsExperience with Lean manufacturing preferredAble to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task and adapt to changing prioritiesInteract well and coach team membersLead by exampleKnowledge of production processes and equipmentHighly organizedStrong communication skills (written and verbal)Ability to read and interpret manufacturing instructions and engineering drawings
