Tradesmen International is immediately hiring skilled Marine Shipfitters for projects located in and around Jacksonville, FL. This is a full time opportunity with a pay rate of up to $24/hour based on experience & skill level plus $110/per diem for travelers of 60+ miles from the job site . Job Scope
Provide maritime ship fitting skills for repairs to ships & boats in the US Navy, US Coast Guard, Military Sealift Command, MSC, & Commercial VesselsLayout & measure utilizing both the imperial, English, & metric systemWork with hand tools & power toolsOperate and/or assist with overhead cranes to include safe rigging of components to be liftedUnderstand, interpret, & apply naval sea systems, Navsea milstd1689 and MIL STD 248DSet up, troubleshoot, & utilize welding machinesMeasure & remove steel and/or aluminum componentsFabricate and reinstall components at the gap tolerance for weldersDetermine proper equipment to be usedInspect tests & repairs, work pieces accordinglyTack welds, metal parts in placeConnect hoses from torch to tanks of oxygen and fuel/shielding gas & turn valves to release mixtureIgnite torch and regulate flow of gas and air to obtain desired temperature, size, & color of flameOther tasks as assigned
Requirements
2+ Years of ExperienceWeld Certificates from Technical School PreferredHS Diploma or Equivalent PreferredMust be able to pass a MIL STD 248D Certification TestWorking Knowledge of the Navsea Standard Items & Other Regulatory BodiesAbility to read blueprintsMust be proficient in Washing WeldAbility to work at heightsDBIDSDrug ScreenStandard PPEHand Tools
