Operations Manager Cincinnati Streetcar

The Operations Manager oversees the streetcar operations, and communicates with other departments that report into the General Manager on a daily basis

Provides general guidance to the streetcar operationsProvides reports and presentations Supports the strategic planning and direction of the General ManagerSupports budget management, safety and risk, both to the client and TransdevManages contract compliance and client relationshipsManages labor relations and union proceduresHas responsibility for scheduling, performance evaluation, and staffing Other duties as required.

Experience

Approximately 5 years experience in fixed route management required or equivalent experience Streetcar or rail experience preferredDemonstrate familiarity with scheduling and dispatching software

Skills and Knowledge

Knowledge of relevant federal and state employment lawsGeneral knowledge of laws, ordinances and regulations governing transit operationsGeneral knowledge of methods of operation for a transit system’s staff and operational departmentsMust be computer literateAbility to communicate with state and local governmentAbility to manage cost control and financial/budget experienceWorking knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint programsStrong written and oral communication skills; excellent presentation skills; ability to lead Ability to organize and perform work efficiently; strong attention to detailsAbility to work effectively with labor; including labor grievances and negotiationsMust possess a valid driver’s license

Travel requirement (as a percent): <5% travel between properties and for meetings and outside training; 15% in total for out of state travel to conferences, corporate headquarters

Physical Requirements

Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.70% of work is accomplished indoors and in air conditioned or well ventilated facilitiesWork is accomplished in an office or in a cubicle space equipped with a telephone and computer, however outside supervision is required especially during high ridership events or inclement weather daysThe employee is generally subjected to moderate periods spent sitting, typing, or looking at a computer screen.
