Senior Oracle Spatial DBA

Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Database Administrator to join our dynamic GIS team. As a Senior DBA, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining our GIS database systems, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and security. You will play a crucial role in supporting our organization's GIS initiatives and ensuring the integrity of our spatial data.

Key Responsibilities: Manage and maintain Geospatial Oracle databases, with a focus on performance tuning, optimization, and reliability. Implement and maintain Oracle GoldenGate replication for data synchronization between GIS databases and other systems. Monitor and troubleshoot Exadata (and non-Exadata) environments to ensure optimal performance and availability. Perform database backups, restores, and recovery using RMAN (Recovery Manager) and ad-hoc backups to ensure data integrity and disaster recovery readiness.Lead and execute database upgrades, patches, and migrations in coordination with application teams and infrastructure teams.Develop and implement capacity planning strategies and future forecasting models to anticipate database growth and resource requirements.Configure and manage login triggers and enterprise management features in Oracle 19c to enforce security policies and streamline database management.Delegate tasks and provide mentorship to junior DBAs, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement database solutions that meet business requirements and support GIS initiatives.Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to work off-hours on short notice, particularly during emergencies or critical system maintenance activities.

Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Master's degree preferred.Minimum of 10 years of experience as a Database Administrator, with a focus on Oracle Spatial databases and GIS applications.Proficiency in Oracle database administration, including Oracle 19c, RMAN, and GoldenGate replication. Extensive Experience in Oracle 23c in-place upgrade is a plus. Strong knowledge of capacity planning, future forecasting, and database upgrade/migration strategies.Expertise in configuring and managing login triggers, enterprise management features, and other advanced Oracle database features.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.Proven track record of leadership, mentorship, and delegation, with the ability to lead and motivate a team of junior DBAs.Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to work off-hours on short notice, particularly during emergencies or critical system maintenance activities.
