FinOps Analyst

Location: MN-Inver Grove Heights, Hybrid 1-2 days on site

Overview: Every Turnberry consultant aligns with a practice, an internal group of consultants and leaders with shared experience and expertise. Each of these practices aligns with one of the eight core services Turnberry offers to clients. As a FinOps Analyst, you will join Turnberry's Product Design & Development practice and consult in the Digital Transformation service. Turnberry's Digital Transformation service provides strategy and implementation consulting to help organizations adopt modern technology to excel in today's digitally-driven market; in the Product Design and Development practice, we leverage modern technology to design and build awesome cloud-native applications.

Responsibilities

Monitor and analyze cloud-related expenses, identify cost optimization, and offset opportunitiesImplement and maintain cost control strategies and practicesSupport the cloud monthly budget and forecast process in managing consumption, show back, and savings in collaboration with accounting, finance, and technical ownersForecast cloud costs based on usage trends and project requirementsEnsure alignment of cloud spending with budgetary constraintsAnalyze cloud usage patterns and make recommendations for resource allocation and utilization improvementsInvestigate and escalate anomalies and unplanned consumption spikesIdentify strategies to adapt resources to demand optimizing cost and performanceIdentify underutilized or unused resources and recommend decommissioning when appropriateCollect and analyze data related to cloud spending and usageProvide insights and recommendations to reduce unnecessary spending during recurring portfolio reviewsCreate and maintain financial reports and dashboardsExtract actionable insights to drive informed decision-makingWork closely with product teams to provide insights and maintain database of executed winsBuild and maintain a strong partnership between IT and Finance; continuous updates sharedEducate, mentor, and train to raise awareness about cost optimization best practices across the organizationStay updated on cloud services, pricing models, and industry trendsRecommend and implement process improvements to enhance cost optimization effortsMonitor and assess the effectiveness of cost-saving initiatives using key metrics defined

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in finance, business, computer science, or a related fieldAt least 4 years’ experience in cloud DevOps, IT cloud Operations, Finance, or cloud cost managementUse of cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google CloudStrong data analytics skills that go far beyond just creating spreadsheetsProven excellent communication and collaboration abilities, including leadership presentations and adjusting the communication based on your audienceFamiliarity with applicable regulations such as GDPR, HIPAA, and SOC 2 as they influence cloud usageCertification in FinOps or relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, etc.) is a plus and can be agreed to be completed within the first 6 months in the role

The salary range for this role is $80,000 to $160,000 or the hourly equivalent.
