SUMMARY

Responsibilities will vary from performing one to several procedures / work instructions of chemical, microbiological, and quality system analyses in an accredited food safety laboratory. Precision, accuracy, and attention to detail in performance of the work instructions & data collection is essential; must be able to maintain complete records for process control and to comply with policies, quality systems, and safety requirements. Initial proficiency testing must be passing, and competency will be verified at least annually thereafter. Team member will be required to work independently and as part of a team, to resolve routine problems, plan work tasks, operate, troubleshoot and perform basic service and maintenance on instruments and equipment, and demonstrate proficiency and growth after training; other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

Education- College degree in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Food Science, or Physical Sciences preferred or college science classes with working laboratory experience.

Computer Skills- general knowledge of Windows Microsoft Office applications

Communication Skills- strong verbal & written communication skills

Special Skills- Work activities are well defined with clearly stated directions or guidelines. Most work steps are clearly prescribed and cannot be modified. Most work duties require repetitive operations.

Position Specific Requirements

Entry level, primarily night-shift position after initial training completion; weekends and/or holidays, as needed, to meet business needs.

1st preference given to applicants with a degree; 2nd preference is to applicants with education and experience in relationship to Chemistry and or Microbiology.
