Description of Position: Serves as a Weapon System Analyst for the Sustainment Branch in the Logistics and Engineering Directorate. Assesses the overall sustainment of space weapon systems across multiple Service Components in support of USSPACECOM operations. Serves as the technical expert and ensures USSPACECOM is managing and executing Logistics Core Functions and managing Classes of Supply in accordance with Joint Doctrine. Uses technical expertise to shape logistics concept of operations for current/future capabilities for both terrestrial and on-orbit logistics and sustainment equities.

Position Duties/Responsibilities: Overall sustainment of space weapon systems across multiple Service Components and units. Develops and maintains guidelines to maximize equipment availability and readiness, support the sustainment activities of supported and subordinate units, and ensures that sustainment approaches are effective across the Joint Logistics Enterprise (JLENT). Ties the sustainment of weapon systems to operational effectiveness of current and future space units. Performs a broad range of weapon system analysis assignments, developing methodologies for and evaluating the effectiveness of weapon systems aimed at overall mission readiness. Engages with commercial, academic and governmental organizations to solve complex logistics and sustainment challenges of USSPACECOM.The technical authority on space weapon system sustainment, readiness, and other assigned technical areas in consultation with Joint Staff, Service Components, and subordinate units. Assesses sustainment risks for USSPACECOM weapon systems and mission sets and informs USSPACECOM leadership of risks. Analyzes and provides input to the Planning, Programming and Budgeting System (PPBS) to include providing updates on Service Program Objective Memorandums (POMs). Advocates for USSPACECOM Service Components on any resource, support, or capability deficiencies. Defines/frames problems and develops solutions to improve USSPACECOM operations. Uses technical expertise to shape logistics concept of operations for current/future capabilities for both terrestrial and on-orbit logistics and sustainment equities to include acquisition logistics planning.Assessments and new initiatives related to space weapon system sustainment. Serves as the technical expert and ensures USSPACECOM is managing and executing Logistics Core Functions and managing Classes of Supply in accordance with Joint Doctrine and Guidance. Works with / across Combatant Commands, Joint Staff, JLENT, Service Components, subordinate commands and internal planning / operations staffs to create and structure the Command's concept of logistics and account for impacts of contested logistics. Furnishes logistics and technical input for development of USSPACECOM operational concepts to execute USSPACECOM Unified Command Plan (UCP) and Operational Plans (OPLANS) in support of real-world and exercise operations. Provides logistics and sustainment analysis in support of internal and external USSPACECOM processes. Manages logistics programs to provide support to USSPACECOM units.Worldwide location, configuration, condition and operational status of all USSPACECOM weapon systems using various classified and unclassified automated management systems. Synchronizes and implements processes across the JLENT to improve situational awareness of space weapon systems and logistics equities. Collaborates across USSPACECOM, JLENT and Service Components to enable and refine a Common Operating Picture for logistics and sustainment equities. Provides analysis and informs USSPACECOM leadership on sustainment and logistics trends impacting USSPACECOM weapon systems.

Key Skills & Abilities: Extensive knowledge of a broad range of space weapon systems, capabilities, support or sustainment requirements, systems owner/operators, associated contract, and overall structure supporting national defense.Advanced knowledge of Logistics Core Functions, Classes of Supply and the Planning, Programming and Budgeting System (PPBS) of the Department of Defense.Comprehensive knowledge of policies, concepts, and procedures affecting logistics, acquisition, supply, inventory management, logistics planning and procurement functions.Ability to gather data, organize, lead or participate in special studies, and present findings across different organizations and commands to identify problems and develop innovative solutions.Ability to lead teams; originate new ideas, projects, and methodologies; and execute projects within established guidelines.Exceptional ability to solve broad organizational issues, implement strategic plans within and across organizational components, and ensure a cooperative teamwork environment.Advanced skill sufficient to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; negotiate complex issues; and maintain good working relationships with diverse groups and executive-level command management.Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, operational impacts of cybersecurity lapses, organizational and mission requirements (relevant to confidentiality, integrity, availability, authentication, non-repudiation). Knowledge of risk management processes (e.g., methods for assessing and mitigating risk).

Qualification Requirements: Experience at the next lower broadband/grade level (or equivalent) performing weapon system sustainment analysis or experience providing logistics and sustainment support to space operations. Education Requirements: (Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred) Must be able to meet Foundational Life Cycle Logistics Certification requirements as part of the Defense Acquisition Work Improvement Act (DAWIA).
