Job Summary

The Cardiology Critical Care Nurse Practitioner position has clinical, procedural, administrative, and educational responsibilities in the care of adult patients requiring assessment, diagnosis, management, and treatment in the critical care setting. Under the supervision of the Chief of Cardiology Critical Care and the Heart & Vascular Director of Advanced Practice Providers, the Cardiology Intensive Care APP (CICU APP) will have a critical role in the inpatient setting, with both team member and individual duties. These responsibilities will include examination and assessment, diagnosis, and planning; treatment implementation, coordination, and continuity; performance of specific procedures; development of practice protocols and evaluation of quality of care; education of patients, families and other health care practitioners.

One of the following National NP Board Certifications are required: ACNP-BC, AGACNP-BC, ACNPC-BC, ACNPC-AG, ACNPC.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.

For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Required Qualifications

NP I

Minimum 3 years cardiovascular ICU nursing experience.Possess the skills, knowledge, and abilities essential to successfully perform the duties of the assigned position.Flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations and in varying schedules as outlined.Flexibility to work across all UCSF campuses, UCSF affiliates and UCSF Faculty Practice patient care locations.

NP II

Minimum 6 months NP experience in inpatient general surgery, cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, cardiovascular, or critical care ICU. Possess the skills, knowledge, and abilities essential to successfully perform the duties of the assigned position.Flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations and in varying schedules as outlined.Flexibility to work across all UCSF campuses, UCSF affiliates and UCSF Faculty Practice patient care locations.

Prior experience with point of care ultrasoundPrior experience with line insertionPrior experience with MCS patient populationPrior experience in an academic setting

In most cases this is done through its Office of Medical Affairs & Governance (OMAG) prior to the first working day. Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 60-90 days but can vary.
