Job Summary
The Nurse Practitioner has the primary responsibility for the diagnosis and management of chronic and acute otolaryngology conditions for pediatric or adult patients with complex medical and surgical needs in the outpatient ambulatory clinical setting as well in the hospital setting. The NP will be responsible for carrying out independent assessment and diagnosis, following established protocols, performing otolaryngology related procedures under the standardized procedure protocols, conducting patient education, performing post-op care and related duties as required for patients.
Primary site: Bayfront - 520 Illinois Street, San Francisco, CA 94107
Additional practice locations may include: Oakland, Berkeley, Redwood, City, Marin or other expansion clinical sites.

Department Description
The Otolaryngology ambulatory clinics are high volume and focus on a variety of specialty otolaryngologic diagnoses. This position is a clinical role therefor no call, weekends, nights or holiday coverage is required. The Department of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery offers a broad scope of outpatient and inpatient services for the management of ear, nose, and throat diagnosis. Specialty programs within the department include otology/neurotology, the Balance and Falls Center, the Cochlear Implantation program, head and neck surgery, rhinology and endoscopic sinus surgery, endocrine (thyroid/parathyroid) surgery, minimally invasive skull base surgery, facial plastic surgery, laryngology, pediatric otolaryngology, general otolaryngology, sleep apnea surgery, voice and swallowing disorders, sialendoscopy and audiology.
Required Qualifications
Certified NP with a minimum of two (2) years of independent clinical practice.Prior OHNS practice experience working as a Nurse Practitioner.Experience performing simple procedures independently with a desire to continue and grow procedural skills.Demonstrated excellence in the following areas: clinical practice, communication, clinical case management, and problem identification/resolution.Excellent verbal and written communication, professional attitude, and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with a diverse population.Ability to satisfactorily perform job duties as defined in the job duties/ functions
Preferred Qualifications
Prior work experience in an academic medical center.Evidence of professional development through certification, conference attendance, post-graduate education, teaching duties, etc.Secondary language fluency.
License/Certification
California driver’s license (CDL) if required for position. Hold current national certification from an accepted certifying agency and provide by first day of work.Accepted Certifications for this position: A-GNP-C, ANP-C, FNP-C, GNP-C, AGPCNP-BC, ANP-BC, FNP-BC, GNP-BC, ACNP-BC, AGACNP-BC, ACNPC-AG, ACNPC) Link to UCSF NP Certification Table for reference: https://ucsf.box.com/s/ a2wll0d3oqe3j9shkb1nvewnqkbzjlun Hold a current and active RN and NP and Furnishing license in California.Completed a BRN recognized graduate master’s degree program as a nurse practitioner.Hold an active and/or transferable DEA license to California and provide evidence by 90th day of clinical practice. (It is the responsibility of the employee to transfer their DEA license to their new place of employment if from out of state, via online DEA portal and provide evidence of transfer).Submit enrollment with CMS Medicare and Medicaid through credentialing by first clinical day. CCS enrollment as appropriate for pediatric environments.Hold current AHA BLS as minimum requirement.State regulation requires that you have a supervising physician to practice.Incumbents with less than 6 months of NP experience will be hired as a Nurse Practitioner 1.

In most cases this is done through its Office of Medical Affairs & Governance (OMAG) prior to the first working day. Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 60-90 days but can vary.
