Responsibilities
Sorts clean linen. Folds dry linen. Fills carts with predetermined amounts of linen. Delivers linen to designated areas. Collects soiled linen from physician offices and other areas of the hospital. Separates unacceptable linens (stained, worn, torn, etc.) and returns to laundry processor. Weighs linen for credits back to MHLS. Inputs accurate data in handheld computer system. Assists with processing of soiled linen. Completes daily cleanup of workstation. Wash and dry mops and linen items in washers/dryers. Follows departmental and hospital safety policies. Reports maintenance needs to Lead, Supervisor or calls HELP Desk. Responds as assigned to internal and external disasters. Flexes into EVS to support department needs.
Qualifications
Education
High School diploma or equivalent desirable, but not required
Experience
Previous laundry processing experience desirable, but not required. Primarily on the job training.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Ability to follow instructions. Ability to read, write and perform basic math skills. Ability to hear alarms and Vocera.
Other
Equipment operated includes: handheld computer, dryers, washers, tug, scale, linen carts, lifts, mops and vacuums. PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT: Protective clothing or equipment required: gloves when using cleaning chemicals, scrubs or cover gown and gloves when handling soiled linen. Goggles when changing chemical containers if listed on containers.
