Job Summary

Facilities Management at CU Boulder encourages applications for a Custodial Supervisor! This position assigns cleaning tasks to custodial staff and compiles and completes time sheets in AiM. The role also orders and distributes cleaning supplies, materials and equipment, and responds to complaints about and requests for cleaning services by building users.

In addition, the role may be responsible for cleaning and sanitizing facilities for the students, staff, faculty and customers of the Boulder Campus.

Responsibilities

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Team Cleaning Program: employees will rotate through the different specialist positions. Perform duties as scheduled on the area floor plans. Rotation through different specialists at the same time and some employees may be on a team of one performing all specialist duties. Perform area substitution duties in vacant areas or to cover for employees on leave and perform emergency clean up duties as necessary.Plan, assign, coordinate, inspect and review custodial routine cleaning activities, according to assigned schedules and floor plans. Adjust assignments to accommodate absences. Coordinate and carry out recycling programs in campus buildings as requested. Coordinate cleaning of building entry ways and snow removal activities. Respond to emergencies whenever they occur. Engage employees in safety culture to ensure adherence to standard methodologies regarding hazard controls and written policies and procedures and ensuring organizational representation in the Safety Committee. Participate in employee safety observation program by performing observations as prescribed or manager approved alternative. Perform initial employee accident, incident, and occupational illness investigation. Ensure safety training is completed and completes prescribed safety training. Notice safety hazards and act promptly to alleviate the problem. Report safety hazards, mistakes, accidents and/or procedural violations to Safety Officer. Makes suggestions on how to improve safety.Prepare and review with employees their yearly performance management plans. Conduct coaching sessions with employees. Prepare ongoing continued education and training opportunities for employees. Advise employees of current policies, procedures and problems and keep employees up to date on departmental initiatives. Conduct safety and operational training with custodial staff. Prepare documentation for verbal, corrective and/or disciplinary actions, and recommend type of action.Record employee time in AiM daily, print employee timesheet report weekly. Schedule and plan ahead for employee time-off.Distribute, collect, and order keys for custodians. Review and recommend equipment and materials purchases. Review, order, and distribute supplies and materials for custodians and building users. Schedule equipment for repairs. Provide updated information in regards to room use type and changes in floor surface to keep data up-to-date.Meet with building users and maintenance personnel regarding custodial activities and building repairs.Review with manager the status of team activities. Prepare and conduct program presentations to management group.

What You Should Know

This position’s anticipated work schedule is Monday through Friday from 4:30 am - 1:00 pm. This position will need to attend weekly supervisor meetings on Wednesday from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm. This position may be required to work alternate shifts; for example, 3:30 PM - 12:00 AM or 2:00 PM - 12:30 AM Tuesday through Saturday.

What We Require

Must be a Colorado resident to apply and must have a valid Colorado driver's license. Two years of experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position.

What You Will Need

Computer skills (familiar with email, outlook/teams calendar, basic Office programs such as Word and Excel).Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

Supervisory experience (manager, supervisor or lead).Custodial experience within a school or higher educational environment.
