Job Summary
The Li Lab, in the Museum of Natural History, University of Colorado Boulder, is hiring a Post-Doctoral Associate to work on functional genomics of marine bivalve photosymbionts. This project aims to use multiple marine invertebrate-algal symbiotic systems to study the genetic and molecular mechanisms behind the host-symbiont nutrient exchange process and the macroevolution of photosymbiosis.

The University of Colorado Museum fosters exploration and appreciation of the natural environment and human cultures through research, teaching, and community outreach. We provide academic training for graduate students in Museum and Field Studies; build, conserve, and interpret research collections; and offer exhibits and educational programs for the University and the public.
The Museum is located on the main campus of the University of Colorado in Boulder, CO, and houses the largest natural history collection in the Rocky Mountains. Currently, more than four million objects are categorized into five disciplines: Anthropology, Botany, Entomology, Paleontology, and Zoology.
Responsibilities
What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Generating and analyzing genomic data.Generating and analyzing phylogenetics and population genetics data.Producing manuscripts and present in academic meetings.Mentoring graduate students.

Salary range will be 53,000-58,000 based on experience and includes full benefits.

What We Require
PhD in Biology, Evolution, Molecular Biology or similar areas.Expertise with generating and analyzing invertebrate genomic/transcriptomic data.Expertise in molecular phylogenetics.Proficient in R, Python, and other related bioinformatics tools.Excellent writing and communication skills.Independent, collaborative and motivated.
What We Would Like You To Have
Understanding of marine ecology, and invertebrate evolution.Experience with genome assembly.Experience working with Fraginae photosymbiotic bivalve systems.Field work experience in marine habitat.
