Position Description
The Research Technician I in the department of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics will conduct standard and develop novel molecular biology and next generation sequencing tools for grant-funded and new Smith lab projects. Assist with general day-to-day operations of a research laboratory.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Responsible for standard molecular biology laboratory work including nucleic acid extractions, PCR, and next generation library preparation. Responsible for cell-based laboratory work including mammalian cell culture and running cell-based activity assays. Responsible for independent project management, will assist Principal Investigator with interfacing with collaborative teams both internal and external to UofL. Will share responsibilities of general laboratory operations, including sample coordination, instrumentation maintenance, data quality control/assurance/analysis, and training students in lab methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in basic molecular biology techniques, including DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, next generation sequencing. Experience in manuscript preparation, project management, data analysis/interpretation.

Compensation Will Be Commensurate To Candidate Experience.
