Position Description
The SJYD Planning Coordinator comprises two roles within the Center for SJYD Research: Assistant Equity Coach and Support Staff for the SJYD Training of Trainers and SJYD Coalition. The Assistant SJYD Equity Coach is responsible for assisting the SJYD Equity Coach with providing equity-focused professional development opportunities and technical support to a network of youth development professionals in Louisville. This includes facilitating racial healing processing groups and Social Justice Youth Development skill-building sessions with youth workers in Louisville. The SJYD Equity Assistant will facilitate other project staff in engaging with participants using the social justice youth development framework, integrating critical building, reflection, and coaching in topics of equity and inclusion.
The Support Staff for the SJYD Training of Trainers (ToT) and SJYD Coalition is responsible for supporting the design and implementation of the SJYD Certificate ToT program and Coalition with a specific focus on the: (1) racial healing and processing group facilitator training and (2) supporting the facilitation and building of an SJYD Coalition.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Develop relationships with youth development organizations and youth serving programs in the Louisville regionMaintain up-to-date knowledge in best practices of social justice youth development and trauma- informed care by researching trends and trainings. Coordinate SJYD certificate program participant orientation and any accompanying receptions, open houses, and information sessions in conjunction with the program director and staff. Adjust work hours when necessary to accommodate peak deadline periods. Lead and co-lead the facilitation/training of racial healing processing groups for the SJYD certificate program. Support the facilitation of the SJYD Certificate Training of Trainers (ToT) program with an emphasis on racial healing and processing group facilitation design. Explore best practices for facilitation of racial healing processing and identity development sessions. Support the design and implementation of the SJYD Coalition. Facilitate SJYD coaching sessions with individuals and organizations participating in Certificate. Observe coaching participants in programmatic context, when necessary, to facilitate behavioral changes and offer suggestions for integrating SJYD successfully into programming. Facilitate experiential learning opportunities for SJYD certificate participants. Facilitate weekly debriefing groups with program staff. Maintain all required documents/credentials for program participants. Assist with development and upkeep of resources for prospective and current youth workers participating in SJYD Certificate program.
Preferred Qualifications
Earned Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Adult Education, or related field; at least five years of demonstrated work experience facilitating professional development opportunities and trainings for youth development workforce may be considered in place of earned degreeEvidence of engagement with social justice youth development and implementation of equity-based frameworks. Understanding of racial healing process and identity development for youth workers of color. Demonstrated knowledge of youth participatory action strategies and social action projects with youth. Experience in group facilitation, preferably in identity and racial processingThis positions should have expertise and lived experience to help inform content, facilitation, and implementation for the ToT and SJYD Coalition. Evidence of successful engagement with group task completionDemonstrated proficiency in use of computers and software and other technological tools to facilitate efficient and creative project engagement
