📋 Role Overview & Responsibilities
Performs utility and building mechanical system and equipment infrastructure assessments and oversees the design and replacement/upgrade of mechanical equipment and systems. Performs project management responsibilities for mechanical system upgrade efforts. Evaluates the operation of the central plants and utility systems and makes suggestions for improvements. Plans and coordinates utility outages in support of maintenance & repair and acts as primary liaison with campus projects that interact with existing utilities and/or incorporate new utilities.Provides analysis, design and construction support for the Energy Management & Utilities team, Engineering & Energy (E&E) unit, other FM units and independent college projects and construction activities as they affect campus mechanical utilities. Assures that project goals include the improvement of utility system reliability and efficiency.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar related technology field.
Experience: Four (4) – Seven (7) years of experience including design, commissioning, testing and/or operation and maintenance of mechanical infrastructure is required. Experience should be in performing similar duties with complex mechanical utility central plant systems. Position requires at least three (3) years’ experience in the design and operating evaluation of Central Plant and infrastructure mechanical systems, including chillers, boilers, pumps, turbines, chilled and heating water, steam, domestic water and specialty plumbing systems.
