Job Description
General Purpose of Job
Provide a high-quality swim lesson for members and non-members of the Michigan Athletic Club following American Red Cross guidelines. To help children and adults of all ages develop proper swimming techniques and skills.
Essential Duties
Follow American Red Cross guidelines and standards for Learn to Swim programPrepare lesson plans in accordance with Level teachingAssess the progress of each student and adjust lesson plans accordingly.Identify incorrect swimming techniques and correct students accordingly. Prepare report cards for each student in class. Provide direct communication with parents regarding child(ren)'s progress or concerns. Responsible for scheduling private lessons in advance, using Club Automation to ensure proper payment is collectedComplete attendance, progress and incident reports in a timely manner.Promptly communicate concerns, incidents, program needs, equipment or supply needs with Youth Programs SupervisorAttend in-service trainings and staff meetingsKeep equipment organized and in the proper place, making sure items are in good working conditionDemonstrates the MAC customer service model and Sparrow ICARE values.
Job Requirements
General Requirements
Must complete CPR certification within 60 days of hire.
Work Experience
Prior work as a Swim Instructor or Lifeguard, Water Safety Instructor certification preferred
Education
HS Diploma/GED
Specialized Knowledge and Skills
Strong swimming ability, knowledge of proper swimming techniques and water safety rules, must enjoy working with children, motivating, patient and enthusiastic
