General Summary

This is an entry level position into the Account Services Consultant (ASC) job family. The Account Services Associate (ASA) is primarily responsible for providing accurate and highly responsive support to internal and external customers for administrative, letter and report requests. Work is performed under moderate supervision according to established guidelines. This position is primarily an internal support role for the ASC team but does require some customer-facing opportunities. The ASA is held to high standards of excellence regarding responsiveness and accuracy of work. The work environment is moderately paced and has a direct impact on delivering a consistent and predictable experience for Unum’s customers. This position is a contributor to building customer loyalty and driving success for Unum’s LTC objectives, including supporting the development and execution of repricing strategies.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

Responsible for ongoing support of policy administration, billing reconciliation, repricing efforts, various reporting, policy terminations and letter creation.Includes:Billing:Creating and providing premium recaps and consolidated billing files to customers.Scheduling automated collections letters to customers with past due premium.Creating and providing letters that capture provisional coverage changes (inflation, non-forfeiture, APO).Processing group policy level terminations.Processing insured level coding as part of group level policy terminations.Rate Increase:Verifying rate increases were correctly applied to policyholders.Generating confirmation and notification letters to policyholders.Ensuring that appropriate documentation is in place once rate increases have been implemented.Ability to work and collaborate effectively with external customers, field, and home office partners (i.e., Field Office/AskUnum, Underwriting, ASC/Sr. ASC)Promote positive customer service and technical expertise through prompt, accurate, and courteous responses to customer, field, and internal information needs.Research and respond to requests with timely and accurate information relative to all procedures, and processes.Contribute to the maintenance of positive customer service through documentation and accountability for resolution of issues identified during direct contact, as appropriate.May perform other duties as assigned.

Job Specifications

College degree preferred or equivalent work experienceDemonstrates excellent customer service skillsDemonstrated success in high production and dynamic work environmentsKnowledge of all Unum LTC products, services, and processes preferredExcellent team, organizational and time management skillsStrong interpersonal and communication skills – both verbal and written.Adaptive/flexible with the ability to deal with multiple, concurrent, and rapidly changing demands.Solid PC, keyboard, Excel, & WordBasic math skills requiredDemonstrates initiative – proactive, assumes responsibility, is self-motivated and organized.Ability to support hours of operation between 8am & 5pm EST, Monday thru FridayDemonstrates strong problem solving skillsAbility to work independently, as well as part of a team.Ability to effectively balance customer and production needs.

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.

$36,000.00-$64,800.00
