Patient Care Coordinator - CritiCare

VCA SouthPaws currently has an opening for a full-time Patient Care Coordinator (PCC) in our 24-hour Emergency and Critical Care Department (CritiCare).

The Patient Care Coordinator is stationed right in the thick of the treatment area, working side by side with the doctors and nursing care associates to ensure exceptional client service.

This role is vital to the flow of operations for the department. Our PCCs are the ears, eyes, and voices of the medical floor, making this client service-focused position a key part of the overall medical team.

SouthPaws' Patient Care Coordinators assist our doctors and hospital associates by:

• Providing patient updates to clients and referring veterinary staff

• Monitoring lab requests and assisting in communication of results

• Overseeing the processing of insurance claims

• Communicating with pharmacies

• Facilitating follow up/check in calls post hospitalization

• Liaison for interdepartmental communications

• Documenting interactions in our database

• This position is responsible for the accuracy of charges for hospitalized patients and may review detailed itemized estimates with clients.*

Other Requirements

• Previous veterinary field experience (minimum of 1 year) required

• Dependable attendance

• Attention to detail and prioritization

• Proficient communication skills

• Critical thinking abilities

• Ability to sit, stand and walk intermittently for short periods of time

Position Schedule to be filled

• Sunday-Tuesday (8am-6pm or 7am-5pm)
