📋 Role Overview & Responsibilities
Painters employed at Veritas Steel's Palatka location are responsible for applying coatings as required by job specifications to fabricated material per code requirements. Painters must have the ability to operate paint equipment, interpret prints for prime only or paint areas, and use paint and blast profile gauges. They can meet high production demands promptly and complete high-quality work with expertise. Painters must also adhere to company policies to ensure a safe working environment.
Principle Duties & Responsibilities:Apply coatings to fabricated material while adhering to code requirements and guidelinesRead and interpret blueprints for prime only or paint areasDraw templates as indicated on the blueprintPerform layouts as indicated on the blueprintSetup and operate equipment necessary to coat fabricated materialUse proper safety equipment, paint equipment, paint and thinners, and assure that surfaces are adequately prepared for painting all operationsMaintain shop, equipment, tools, vehicles, etc. for the purpose of ensuring the availability and functioning of itemsCoordinate with shop supervisor and other personnel for the purpose of completing projects/work orders efficiently, on time, and with no defectsAdheres to safety policies to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and surrounding coworkers Performs other related duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills, & Abilities: High School diploma or GEDMust be able to read, write, and comprehend EnglishAble to apply coatings to fabricated material per code requirementsAble to read and interpret blueprints, draw templates and perform the layouts as indicated by the blueprintsAble to adapt to work priorities, communicate well, meet deadlines and schedules, and work as part of a teamExperience in industrial painting; a plusPhysical Requirements:Able to lift 80 pounds and carry 35 poundsMust be able to push /move objects up to 40 lbs. of forcePulling requirements up to 45lbs. of forceNecessary to stand, walk, stoop, and kneelMust have a good range of motion when reaching forward, shoulder to overhead, and bendingLay face up on creeper and push/pull self with legsWorking Conditions: Work is performed indoors in a large warehouse or outside in all weather conditionsThere is regular exposure to dirt, dust, paint fumes, noise, moving equipment, heavy steel & other possible hazardous conditionsSafety glasses, hearing protection, hard hats, and steel-toed boots are required; a respirator is required for specific operations
Compensation details: 18.94-22.16 Hourly Wage
