Vertiv is currently looking to add Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to our Anderson, SC team. We look for people who are 100% team oriented, self-driven, and technically proficient. We are building a team of motivated and detail-oriented people who will produce a quality product for some of the most prestigious clients in the world.

This opportunity is for someone who wants to work with a technically driven team with minimal functional management and continue to build on the reputation we have created throughout Europe and the Middle East to establish the same reputation in the United States. This means that everyone is expected to be self-driven. Our leadership team will guide you on projects which suit your strengths, but a willingness to get the job done and overcome obstacles is a must. This position is best suited to someone who enjoys a variety of new challenges, a hands-on environment and will accept the challenges and reap the benefits of working for a facility with a blank canvas. You will have an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to modelling and manufacturing drawing pertaining to Electrical Switchgear & Busduct product lines.

Responsibilities

Design products to meet desired specifications and schedules for new products, cost improvements, and other company objectives. Employ problem solving skills to resolve issues encountered in product development. Lead design efforts utilizing CAD software creating 3D models and assemblies and drafts of parts, components, and assemblies. Mentor design engineers and review work output of design team. Participate in cross-functional teams, working together to develop project schedules, define product features, and brainstorm design solutions. Critique, review, and provided feedback for design improvements.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field Must have a solid understanding of electrical Busway, Switchgear, and/or Switchboards Proficient in 3D drawing packages (Solid Works experience preferable) Ability to work within a team environment Ability to self-manage, be self-motivated and deliver to project milestones Innovative problem-solving skills Professional verbal and written communication Knowledge of UL standards and design criteria – particularly UL1558, UL891 Understanding of lean manufacturing and six sigma a plus
