What You'll Do

This team is focused on providing airline employees as well as the end users with the best in-flight connectivity service. In this position you will be an integral part of the DevOps Commercial Mobility team and make meaningful impacts to the in-flight connectivity service for commercial airline flights that take place every day.

Your responsibilities will range from developing software that is able to scale across multiple commercial airline fleets to creating new products and services to monitoring and maintaining existing services for the commercial airline passenger, flight crew, mechanics, and installers.

The day-to-day

Our team aims to develop a common, stable, and secure platform for venue-side applications and services across all verticals within GEM. We achieve this by building and managing an Operating Environment (OE) that encompasses the Operating System and essential host services. In this role, you will:

Be recognized as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in a technical areaRoutinely influence design decisions and resolves issues to align to business needsWork on and lead project of diverse scope with little instructionContribute to architecture decisions and integrations that impact multiple productsDevelop and deliver technical briefingsTypically works with others to define the problem to be solved/feature to be designed, and then works autonomously with little instruction on day-to-day workDemonstrate judgement to obtain relevant and timely results and metrics using appropriate methods and toolsRecommend or be involved in evaluating new methodology and influencing its adoptionMay mentor junior team membersLead technical design reviews and is effective at communicating technical ideasHelp project leaders make informed decisions by providing technical inputHelp teams adhere to and adopt industry best practicesWork across multiple teams/groups contributing to technical decisionsMay expand skillsets by becoming knowledgeable in new areasIdentify opportunities to improve product performance, cost, reliability and securityContribute and participate in design, product implementation, test, production, and operations reviews

What You'll Need

Typically requires 10+ years of related experience with commercial software development in building distributed applications and with a Master's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering; or 12+ years related experience with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering; or 14+ years related experience without relevant degreeExperience with Linux systems programming and embedded developmentExperience with programming languages/frameworks: C/C++, Python, Shell Scripting and/or JavaExperience with development tools: Linux, Amazon Web Services, Git, Artifactory, Jenkins, Ansible, Kubernetes, DockerFamiliarity with networking: UDP, TCP/IP, AMQP, DHCP, DNS, and/or REST

What Will Help You On The Job

Experience with cloud technology, automation, machine learning, big data, and/or Front-end developmentExperience with programming languages/frameworks: Golang, NodeJS, Angular, and/or React

Salary range

$168,100.00 - $292,200.00 / annually
