We are currently searching for an experienced Bridge Safety Inspector to support our Mid-Atlantic Region located in Richmond or Hampton Roads, VA.

The candidate will be an Assistant Inspector helping to perform bridge safety inspections, writing, and reviewing inspection reports. The candidate will visit various bridges throughout Maryland and Virginia to provide assistance with structural inspections of bridges and other structures.

What You’ll Be Doing

Perform bridge inspection of culverts to large complex bridges and ancillary structures (signs, light poles, traffic signals)Develop inspection reports and reviewOffice responsibilities will include report writing, review and data entry

What You Need To Have

Understanding of national bridge inspection methods, evaluations, and report preparation is preferredProficient in Microsoft Word and ExcelAbility to travel within Maryland and Virginia, occasional overnight stays may be requiredAbility to climb ladders, and work at heightsValid driver's licenseMinimum of 1 year of bridge and/or ancillary inspection experience highly preferredSuccessful Completion of FHWA/NHI Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges is preferred but not requiredCharacteristics of a successful Volkert team member: Be a brand ambassador for the company who engages in diversity and inclusion,Be self-motivated to meet individual goals and maintain accountability in a team environmentExercise initiative and independent judgement in the solution of work problemsBe able to communicate effectively- verbal and writtenBe able to multi-task in a team environment
