Safety Coordinator
📋 Role Overview & Responsibilities
Responsible for managing the safety training programs for all locations of Company. Develops and delivers training to plant personnel using a variety of tools and methods. Maintains training and certification records.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.
Delivers safety training in a variety of settings including classroom and on-the-spot training; includes programs such as forklift certification, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), Lock-Out/Tag-Out, positioner training, etc. Determines training audience and relevance as well as duration of class. Develops, updates and implements training programs by working with project managers, engineers, tech leads and/or other Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to determine training needs; may research alternative training options and negotiate with vendors to purchase training programs. Conducts periodic safety checks in the plant to identify potential safety issues which result in updated safety training. Tracks and maintains all training files and databases. Responsible for tracking safety certifications and renewals such as hearing testing and forklift certifications; manages process for successful completion of testing and certification, including development of rosters and schedules. Completes special projects and other duties as assigned.

Education And Experience
The position requires an Associate's degree or equivalent experience and 1-3 years of training and safety experience preferably in a manufacturing environment. Knowledge of OSHA and ANSI requirements. Knowledge of Personal Protective Equipment preferred. Knowledge of DOT Regulations a plus
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
Effective oral and written communications are essential, as are interpersonal skills. Excellent presentation skills are needed. Knowledge of ergonomics, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) safety standards, safety regulations (SDS, fall prevention, lock-out/tag-out) is preferred. The ability to understand and apply principles of adult learning to training development and delivery is helpful. The ability to work effectively in a team environment is required. PC skills to include MS Office software, such as Excel, Word, Power Point and other internal management and Human Resources systems is necessary. The ability to work with frequent, established deadlines is required. Organizational and analytical skills are required. The ability to work effectively with diverse populations is required. The ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals is required.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; talk or hear; and use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders.
The employee must regularly lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift safety and training equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
The position is primarily an office-based position with frequent visits to the plant floor. The employee occasionally performs work-related travel.
