Who will you be working with?

As a Field Test Technician, you will work closely with many teams in Wabtec such as the software engineering team, software test team, program management team and most importantly, our customers. This role lets you travel and see many different places, ride on locomotives as well as provide direct positive impact to our customers.

How will you make a difference?

As a member of the Wabtec’s Digital Intelligence Train Performance & Automation group, you will be responsible for group, you will Support product development and product testing of our products. Tests will be conducted in both the lab and field environments. Lab testing will require the use of windows-based simulators and automated test tools. Field testing will require the use of windows-based monitoring tools and adherence to a test plan with both customers and government regulators present during testing.

What do we want to know about you?

Associated degree in Electronics Engineering or computer engineering or equivalent experience0-2 years of related test engineering experience with hands on experience testing/debugging softwareExperience analyzing system requirements in a test environment preferredExperience preparing test design documents, test plans, or test procedures preferredFamiliarity with Windows and LinuxHigh degree of attention to detail with a clear focus on qualityEffective oral and written communication skills; ability to articulate clearly and conciselySelf-driven, quick learner, results-oriented and a clear focus on high qualityRailroad experience a plus

What will your typical day look like?

Participate in requirements, design and functional specification reviews at varying levels within the systemWriting of field test plans and test procedures to perform lab based testing and field integration testingWriting manual and automated test scripts with the aid of test tools and simulatorsTesting hardware and software against the system requirements and interface specification requirementsUnderstanding of railroad operationsWorking closely with the internal and external teams in identifying problemsDocument identified problems with enough detail and in a manner that supports resolutionProduce periodic status and operational reportsMake independent technical contributions in-support of program objectives, as well as interacting with Wabtec engineers, customers and the FRA.50% travel requirement
