Transit and European Regional Controller

Job DescriptionHow will you make a difference? The Transit and European Regional Controller leads the Controllership function for the Company’s Transit Segment and European region. The Transit Segment (~$2.7 billion in revenue) primarily manufactures and services components for new and existing passenger transit vehicles, typically regional trains, high speed trains, subway cars, light-rail vehicles and buses; supplies rail control and infrastructure products including electronics, signal design and engineering services; and refurbishes passenger transit vehicles. The Transit and European Regional Controller partners with the Transit and European finance teams to ensure the integrity of financial information, analyze financial performance, and maximize forecasting accuracy. This role is also responsible for maintaining financial controls, managing statutory reporting, and identifying and implementing process improvements.

What will your typical day look like? Provide technical accounting guidance to business leaders to support the financial analysis of commercial agreementsServe as a trusted business partner and advisor to the segment finance leadership teamAnalyze customer contracts to ensure compliance with US GAAP and international standardsAdvise US and international finance teams on accounting treatment for non-standard and/or judgmental transactionsDevelop and maintain business-specific policies to drive consistent internal controls, accounting and financial reportingLead the month-end close process, including trouble-shooting ad-hoc issues, with support from the finance and global operations teamsPrepare and present financial information to corporate and business leadershipSupport the contract performance margin review process to ensure that remaining billings and costs for long-term customer contracts are accurately forecastedCollaborate with various functions across the organization to identify and implement process improvements and policy harmonizationManage the relationship with internal and external auditors and other service providersManage the statutory reporting process for the company’s European region, supporting the Country Controllers where applicableLead the accounting support of all new major project implementationsManage and approve the standard costing and intercompany processes for the Transit business segment
