Retail Systems Specialist

Summary of PositionTaking direction from the Senior Systems Integrity Specialist, this position is responsible for all facets of testing and support of the retail hardware and software environment, including but not limited to the retail PC, Point of Sale, e-commerce, Scale Management, Pharmacy and mobile device platforms. This includes hardware and software testing, support, and training.

The primary responsibilities of this position will include, but will not be limited to the following:Coordinates and completes testing and certification of new retail hardware from quality assurance testing through pilot.Coordinates and completes testing and certification of new software or updates to existing software including quality assurance testing, pilot, and implementation.Creates and maintains test scripts for all hardware and software testing, including the use of testing life cycle, scripting & automated testing tools as applicable.Participates in cross-functional testing efforts with development teamsParticipates as a team member on IT projects.Provides operational and technical training on new features and functions of supported hardware and software for end users, Field Services, and Help Desk agents.Prepares and maintains end user documentation for base training as well as for hardware and software changes and enhancements.Participates in all aspects of project lifecyclesProvides operational and technical support including:Store hardware and software support24 hour on call support for supported hardware and software platforms

Specific to the Point of Sale system, responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to the following: Coordinates and completes testing and certification of Point of Sale controllers, terminals, printers, scanners, PIN pads, monitors, self-checkout, and other associated equipment Coordinates and completes creation, testing, certification, and implementation of Electronic Marketing promotions and provides support for: The software upgrades and utilities for implementing the promotion Data files which support the promotions

Ongoing responsibilities of this position will include, but will not be limited to the following:Increase knowledge of the following:Computing technologies, platforms, and operating systemsPC applications and systemsLocal Area Network systems and communications protocols and techniquesStay current on industry trendsRequirements of PositionCollege degree preferred or equivalent IT certifications or work experience1-3 years of experience working with retail systems, including IT system implementationStrong working knowledge of quality assurance testing techniquesLogical thinking and problem solving skillsAbility to participate and work well in a team environmentStrong verbal and written communication skillsStrong organizational skills including the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneouslyStrong working knowledge of Wakefern/ShopRite computer environments and current industry trends
