Middle School Social Studies Teacher

Waldron Mercy Academy is seeking a passionate and dedicated Middle School Teacher, Social Studies to join our dynamic team. The position is full time with an expected start date of 8/26/24.

Essential Functions:Prepares materials and classroom for class activities.Adapts teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students’ varying needs and interests.Plans and conducts activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question and investigate.Instructs students individually and in groups using various teaching methods such as lectures, discussions, demonstrations and hands on learning.Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units and projects and communicates these objectives to students.Prepares, administers and grades tests and assignments in order to evaluate students’ progress.Meets with parents and guardians to discuss their children’s progress.Collaborates with other teachers, and administrators in the development, evaluation and revision of the Middle School social studies curriculum. Demonstrates a passion for social studies.Attends professional meetings, educational conferences and teacher training workshops in order to maintain and improve professional competence.Strong commitment to Catholic, Mercy education with personal and professional presence consistent with the Sisters of Mercy charisms (hospitality, outreach, openness and trust).

Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in related field of studyValid teaching certification Three years experience at an appropriate grade or age levelExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, colleagues, and parents.Demonstrated organizational skillsWaldron Mercy Academy is an equal-opportunity employer
