Position Summary

This LPN role is a M-F position with typical clinic hours. While the majority of responsibilities are administrative such as referrals, prior authorization and disability forms, the LPN assists patients with orthopedic devices and patient education. The LPN also acts as the primary clinic resource in a large multi-physician clinical practice; prepares and maintains exam rooms, prepares charts, obtains reports and records; directs patient flow and ensures the overall smooth running of the clinical office.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Assists in the assessment, monitoring and termination of prescribed tests and performs basic nursing care, including simple dressing, suture and staple removal.Observes, monitors and responds appropriately to changes in patient treatments.Reviews patient data and communicates pertinent information to superior in a timely manner, charting entries appropriately.Participates in development, implementation and evaluation of patient care plans with other members of the patient care team.Interacts directly with patients in clinic setting and completes tasks, which may include obtaining vital signs, conducting EKGs, completing a phlebotomy and verifying medications.Prepares for office hours by doing tasks such as obtaining charts, scheduling tests and preparing exam rooms.Assists with examinations, procedures and lab tests.May assist with renewal and authorization of non-narcotic medications per standing orders and department guidelines.May administer medications under the order of physicians or nurse practitioner (this includes vaccines and intramuscular and subcutaneous injections).

Preferred Qualifications

One year of related medical experience.Working knowledge of general nursing theory and practice with ability to recognize and interpret symptoms/conditions and assist in emergency or adverse situations.

Required Qualifications

Graduate of LPN program.REQUIRED LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION: Current LPN licensure in the state of Missouri and/or Illinois depending on location or received within 3 months from date of hire; Basic Life Support certification (Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements).

Salary Range

$20.17 - $30.24 / Hourly

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
