Position Summary

The Foltz Lab at Washington University operates at the cutting edge of translational immunology and computational biology, within the Sections of Computational Biology and Stem Cell Biology in the Department of Medicine and Division of Oncology. Our research focuses on understanding the mechanisms underlying the response and resistance to natural killer (NK) cell therapies, as well as the regulation of NK cell anti-tumor function, with a specific emphasis on acute myeloid leukemia and myelodysplastic syndromes. We employ an interdisciplinary approach, integrating single-cell sequencing techniques, clinical samples, and experimental biology using primary human immune cells. Through this integration, we aim to enhance and optimize NK cell therapies for cancer treatment.

To advance our research goals, we are currently seeking individuals for both computational biology and wet-lab positions. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to contribute to our dynamic and collaborative team, working on groundbreaking research aimed at improving the efficacy of NK cell-based immunotherapies in treating cancer.

Job Description

Working Conditions

At the Foltz Lab, we offer a range of positions that can be exclusively focused on computational work (dry lab), laboratory work with experiments (wet lab), or a combination of both. For all lab members, we provide a dedicated cubicle on campus, offering a designated space to work on research projects and collaborate with colleagues. We understand the importance of flexibility, and remote work options can be discussed based on individual circumstances and project requirements.

In the wet lab positions, it's important to note that the work environment entails potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. To ensure safety, the wet lab individual must be physically capable of wearing appropriate protective equipment.

Must be physically able to provide standard care to research animals.

Salary Range

Base pay is commensurate with experience.

Preferred Qualifications

For dry-lab candidates, experience with Python and/or R.For wet-lab candidates, experience with cell culture with excellent pipetting skills. Experience with flow cytometry and immunological functional assays are a plus.Strong communication skills, ability to work as a team, and attention to detail.Excellent organizational skills, ability to follow instructions, work independently, and prioritize tasks.Background in immunology and/or single-cell sequencing is a plus.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree. Candidates with additional education and experience are encouraged to apply.

Salary Range

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
