Position Type: Contracted Part Time, Hybrid with occasional work in Seattle, WAPosition Date: Contracted for the year 2023. Depending on performance, an extension will be evaluated at the end of 2023. Location: Seattle, Washington Duration: Position Starts in April and ends at the end of December. Minimum 10 hours per week. Compensation: As a contractor, the Grant Writer will receive a ten percent commision on any grants received that Grant Writer was involved in writing.

About Washington Youth Alliance: By empowering youth, the Seattle Student Union united middle and high school students across the city, fostering collective action for tangible change. Since our founding in January 2022, we have championed causes like abortion rights, climate justice, mental health, Black Lives Matter, and gun violence prevention. Through numerous walkouts and rallies, we’ve won $24 million for school mental health counselors, and a statewide assault weapons ban and we’re just getting started..

As we expand statewide and become the Washington Youth Alliance, we will forge a better future - one that is more just and compassionate, where no young person is refused access to mental health services, where we address the climate crisis as a priority, and gun violence is an epidemic of the past.

As a Grant Writer at WYA, you will: Research Grant Opportunities: Identify and research potential funding sources that align with the organization's goals and needs.Proposal Development: Write, edit, and submit high-quality grant proposals. This includes crafting clear narratives, developing budgets, and ensuring all proposals meet funder specifications and deadlines.Relationship Building: Establish and maintain relationships with funders and stakeholders to understand their priorities and guidelines.Reporting: Manage and oversee the reporting process for all grants received. This involves tracking the implementation of funded projects and preparing detailed reports that outline the progress and impact of the initiatives.Collaboration: Work closely with other departments within the organization to gather necessary information for proposals and reports.

Qualifications: Grant Writing Experience Excellent Writing Skills: Ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals. Strong editing skills are also crucial.Research Skills: Proficient in conducting thorough research to identify potential funding opportunities and understand the funder's requirements.Time Management: Capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.Attention to Detail: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure that all aspects of the grant proposals and reports are accurate and comply with funder guidelines.Communication Skills: Effective interpersonal and communication skills are essential for building and maintaining relationships with funders and collaborators.
