We conduct and coordinate original research into emissions datasets with unusual potential to rapidly drive emissions reductions at scale, then help implement those reductions. Our best-known innovation is Automated Emissions Reduction (AER), the technique currently used by over 600 million devices daily (e.g. all Nest thermostats, U.S. iPhones, Toyota EVs, etc.) to slash their carbon footprints. We also develop and share other techniques, like our Emissionality technology, that more and more wind and solar farms are using to multiply their environmental impact.

WattTime is also the secretariat of Climate TRACE, a joint initiative of over 100 nonprofits, tech companies, universities, and individual researchers pooling their expertise in AI, remote sensing, and emissions data to collectively build a highly advanced comprehensive open global greenhouse gas measurement system. About the RoleWattTime’s partner success team supports our users (we call them partners) to level up the beneficial impacts they create using WattTime’s data. Partners greatly range in expertise with emissions data and sophistication, from small consulting firms to global tech giants. Our counterparts at those companies span a wide range of roles including CEO, product manager, software engineer, and analyst. Our partner success analysts are skilled at effectively conveying complex information to these varying audiences and figuring out how our data fits into their technology. They also need to become very familiar with our emissions data, how it is pulled from our API, and how it is applied correctly to answer questions and drive real impact. With this familiarity will come intuition that is valuable in handling technical questions on the fly and guiding our partners to create more impactful products. In this role, you will have an opportunity to help us refine our processes such that our partners’ barriers to impact are knocked down faster. There will be flexibility for you to play to your strengths and take initiative on projects that align with your interests and WattTime’s mission. ResponsibilitiesEducate counterparts with our partnering companies about emissions data and its applicationProvide technical and analytical support to partners as they integrate with the API, and as they design emissions-reduction software and other productsConvey partner experience feedback internally to inform internal product developmentUse (and improve on) existing analytical tools (e.g. SDK) to analyze and visualize emissions dataCollaborate with other analysts, partnership managers, researchers, and engineers to address partner barriersGrow into a product ownership role (and/or project leadership role) QualificationsAbove all, the person hired for this position should be committed to driving positive impact in the world. All candidates should have proven experience that includes:

Required: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field such as engineering, computer science, business, economics, political science, or strategy consulting2-5 years experience and/or a Master’s degree in a relevant focus: performing data analysis and interacting directly with external partners, preferably regarding a complex, dynamic industry such as finance, economics, or energyExperience using APIs to ingest data for analysisExperience performing complex data analysis using PythonExceptional skill with data visualization and data storytelling Exceptional listener and communicator: you ask questions, you understand things from others’ point of view, you can articulate complex ideas clearly and conciselyExceptional analytical skills: not just the mechanics, but the ability and curiosity to ask the right questions that uncover the truth within the dataExcited to take on a mix of both independent and collaborative projectsAbility to manage ambiguity, be flexible, and work in a fast-moving environmentCollaborative, respectful, and kindExperience or interest in working within a tech start-up, evolving as the organization growsAbility to work effectively from a remote environment across regular U.S. work hours through tools like Slack, Zoom, GSuite, and othersWillingness and ability to travel to team collaborative sessions a few times a year
