Payroll Clerk

Position Overview – Payroll ClerkThe Payroll Clerk will process the weekly payroll for union and non-union employees while ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and legal requirements. The ideal candidate should be highly organized and able to work under strict deadlines while exhibiting knowledge of payroll processes and wage and hour laws.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)The duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:Accurate and timely preparation and processing of weekly union and non-union payrollMaintain accurate payroll records including data entry for time and attendance transactionsCompile monthly and/or weekly reports (including certified payrolls, union reporting, etc.)Adherence to Sarbanes-Oxley Maintain knowledge of regulatory guidelines, prevailing wages, and collective bargaining agreements (unions)Provide back-up assistance to other Payroll/functionsAbility to research general ledgers and perform reconciliationsMaintain employee confidence and protect payroll operationsRespond to requests for payroll information from internal and external authorized partiesAbility to effectively and professionally interact with all levels of company employeesAssist with other projects as assigned by managementRegular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job

Employees will be held accountable for adhering to their workplace schedule.Knowledge with Windows, Outlook, Excel, and Word.Overtime may be required during peak season, including some evenings and weekends.

QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education and ExperienceAssociate degree or experience in payroll required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
