Job Title: Nurse Coordinator Surgery SchedulerDepartment: Administration Location: Denver, COWage Range: $90,000-110,000 Schedule: Weekdays OnlyWestern Orthopaedics, P.C. was founded in 1938 with a focus on providing compassionate, evidence-based care to patients throughout Denver and the Front Range. The practice is one of the oldest and most respected practices in Colorado, with a focus on creating a patient experience that maximizes beneficial outcomes. Western Orthopaedics continues to grow by embracing innovative orthopedic treatments and enhancing systems infrastructure that supports improved operational efficiency. The surgeons have a diverse breadth of experience. Many of Western Orthopaedic’s surgeons have advanced sub-specialty training and pass on their expertise through teaching other surgeons, serving as active members of local and national medical societies, and authoring scientific publications. They are dedicated to improving outcomes through new technologies and techniques.Position Summary:Under the general supervision of the Director of Clinic Operations, the Nurse Coordinator/Surgery Scheduler will be responsible for scheduling orthopedic surgeries and procedures at multiple locations.This role will additionally provide patient triaging, nurse case management, collaboration with providers and other departments, and provision of quality patient care in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and accreditation standards.Supervision Received: Works under the direct supervision of the Director of Clinic OperationsSupervision Exercised: None

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsible for scheduling surgeries, procedures, and post-operative appointments.Act as liaison between Western Orthopaedics and facility where surgery will be completed to ensure all details are in place prior to surgery.Foster relationships with physicians to ensure that processes and communication allow for effective patient satisfaction.Send out all diagnostic imaging orders for patients, tracking completion, and ensuring results are received.

Review procedure and testing results for abnormalities, triaging results to the ordering physician as necessary.Ensure patients are scheduled for in-home healthcare and physical therapy post-surgery.Triage post-surgical phone calls directing patients to emergency rooms (ERs), urgent care centers, and home care or schedule patients to see their physician during office hours.Serve as a clinical resource and professional role model for other non-provider clinical staffPrioritizes work tasks and services and completes tasks in a timely manner.Provides patient education regarding post-operative care, therapies and healthful behaviorsCommunicates appropriately and tactfully with staff, consultants, patients, significant others, and community.Reduce conflict and increase patient satisfaction whenever possible through timely response to calls.Participates in staff, planning, in-service, and other meetings as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:Graduation from an accredited school of registered nursing required.Three to five years of relevant experience preferred.

Preferred Skillsets:Ability to interact with physicians and other health care professionals in a professional manner.Demonstrated ability to use a computer with common software products such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.Understanding of and experience with EHR systems with the ability to be a subject matter expert within the scope of role.Ability to deal calmly and courteously with people.Ability to finish tasks in a timely manner.Ability to follow oral and written instructions and established procedures.Ability to function independently and manage own time and work tasks.Ability to maintain accuracy and consistency.Ability to maintain patient confidentiality.Ability to perform basic filing, office procedures and word processing.Ability to work as an effective team member.

Physical Requirements:May include standing, sitting and/or walking for extended periods.Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
