Job Description
The Assistant General Manager plays a key role within the operation of Westgate Lakes Resort and Spa, which has over 2,000 rooms. In this position, you will work closely with the General Manager to ensure the daily operations run smoothly. Your responsibilities will include maintaining the resort’s assets, fostering the development of our talented operations team, and enhancing owner and guest satisfaction. Additionally, you will take an active role in managing the resort’s finances and engage in regular communications and meetings with leadership. As Assistant General Manager, you will also provide leadership across several key departments, collaborating effectively to drive the success of our property.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To assist in recruiting, training and ongoing training of all staffPerform appraisals of resort managers, coach and counsel, and develop all resort management staffOrganize monthly meetings and perform follow up to all staffMaintains procedure for orientation, training and development of all associatesLeads by example and ensures that all associates follow SOP'sEnsure resort inventory is managed effectively to attain the highest yield per resort objectivesConduct weekly yield meetingsAssists in preparing and submitting the resort annual business planAssists in managing and achieving all areas of budgets by implementing proper controlsPeriodically checks audits to ensure all financial controlsEnsures all financial SOPs are being followed as outlined in the Financial SOP checklistAnticipates and documents capital expenditure requirementsMaintains personal contact with owners and guests of resortMonitors and maintains procedures for safety of guest and personnelMaintains high levels of service as outlined in the SOP manualPerforms weekly inspections to ensure qualityEnsure all communication standards are being met and all association administration and fiduciary duties are being carried outAssists in maintaining all reporting SOPs and timelines as outlined by the General ManagerMust be visible, available to work all shifts as required by resort needs, and be able to assist guests as needed
Qualifications
5-7 years of experience in the hospitality industry, ideally with several years in management roles within a large hotel or resort settingExperience in timeshare properties is preferredProven track record of successful team leadership and property managementExperience managing large teams and complex operationsStrong understanding of hotel or resort operations, including room management, guest services, housekeeping, maintenance, and food and beverage departments
Education & Certifications
Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred
Skills/Knowledge
Proficiency in budgeting, financial management, and cost controlStrong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and direct teams in a fast-paced environmentHigh attention to detail in all aspects of resort operations and guest interactions, ensuring that service standards are consistently met and exceeded
