Job Summary

Drives gasoline or diesel-powered tractor-trailer combination to transport and deliver a coal-by-product, fly ash. Job accountability is the on-time delivery of product to end customer, positive attitude, reliability, and accurate documentation and record keeping.

Essential Functions

Comply with Boral Safety Policies and ProceduresRegular attendance, timeliness, and scheduling flexibilityMust possess working knowledge of tractor and pneumatic tanker combination, Federal and State regulations inherent to Commercial Driver Licensing (CDL).Ability to operate equipment in tight places.Possess good interpersonal skills, be a team player, present a good appearance, good communication skills; both written and oral.Job duties entail the loading fly ash or other materials and transporting them to the customer’s location, via daily direction of dispatcher. Daily performance, of pre-trip and post trip equipment inspection, and preparation of related trip documentation. Trip documentation comprises daily driver’s logbook, equipment inspection log, trip reports, daily time sheet, fuel tickets, source plant load weight tickets and receipt signatures from end customer confirming delivery.Routinely calls dispatcher for new routing assignments, instructions as regards any equipment failure, report down time, demurrage situations and any other issues requiring the assistance of supporting personnel.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Education And/Or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).1-2 years’ experience with equipment. Successful completion of CDL Driver Training Course is a plus.Hold a valid Commercial Driver's License, current Medical Examiner's Certificate and Compliance Certificate.
