The Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated Transportation Manager to oversee our hauling department's operations. The ideal candidate will prioritize safety, demonstrate strong leadership skills, and drive continuous improvement initiatives within the transportation team.

Responsibilities

Supervise and manage a team of 25 full-time employees and temporary contracted CDL drivers, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and company policies.Develop and implement a comprehensive safety program in compliance with Federal, State, and Company regulations, focusing on continuous improvement.Ensure strict adherence to DOT regulations, including driver hours of service, vehicle inspections, and maintenance records.Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with DOT regulations and implement corrective action.Coordinate daily work schedules and shipment routes to optimize efficiency and meet customer service requirements.Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement solutions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize transportation routes, reduce costs, and improve overall performance.Manage costs and adhere to annual budgets while ensuring timely and efficient movement of materials.Maintain records of driver activities, DOT compliance, customer requests, and services provided.Conduct regular maintenance inspections on vehicles and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.Facilitate new hire orientation, testing, and ongoing training for all hauling department employees.Collaborate with management on the hiring process for new drivers, ensuring compliance with all regulations and company policies.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.5+ years of experience in transportation operations, with a strong focus on safety and leadership.Strong knowledge of transportation regulations and best practices.Excellent leadership and communication skills.Proven track record of driving continuous improvement initiatives.Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Commitment to safety and adherence to DOT regulations.Previous experience in the trucking industry and knowledge of GA/FL routes preferred.
