Job SummaryA Senior Trial Associate is being sought for a growing Houston firm to work on complex commercial litigation cases. While litigation experience is needed, transactional experience is valued as well. Background in finance and/or accounting is necessary for work with both public companies and privately held businesses, private equity, domestic and international financial institutions, financial services-related companies, bankruptcy trustees and creditors in a wide range of substantive complex commercial litigation.

Job DescriptionAs a Senior Trial Associate you will assist Partners in managing cases. Depending on your experience, you may have your own docket of cases. This position’s primary focus is in areas of business disputes and commercial litigation.As a Senior Trial Associate you will maintain client relationships throughout the legal processAs a Senior Trial Associate you will develop strategies in complex disputesAs a Senior Trial Associate you will write and summarize legal documentsAs a Senior Trial Associate you will negotiate with outside parties on legal disputes and contractual issuesAs a Senior Trial Associate you will appear in a court of law, arbitration, or other judicial tribunal on behalf of the firm’s clientAs a Senior Trial Associate you will utilize knowledge of civil law principles and their applicationAs a Senior Trial Associate you will understand research methods, rules of evidence and conduct of court proceedingsAs a Senior Trial Associate you will effectively deliver legal information in a workshop setting, hearing, or courtroomAs a Senior Trial Associate you will plan, organize, and prioritize workload to meet deadlinesAs a Senior Trial Associate you will interpret, understand, and apply federal, state, and local laws and regulationsAs a Senior Trial Associate you will write correspondence in a professional mannerAs a Senior Trial Associate you will maintain confidential and sensitive informationAs a Senior Trial Associate you will prepare, present and conduct cases of law, equity and appeals thereof effectivelyAs a Senior Trial Associate you will present statements of fact, law, and argument clearly and logically in written and oral form

Senior Trial Associate Required ExperienceExtensive training in Accounting and/or Finance.7 plus years of experience that includes litigation. Transactional work in addition to litigation is also of value.Outstanding verbal and written communication skillsCollaborative, self-motivated, and highly professional5%-10% travel requiredValues and thrives in team-based approachHas technical skills where new programs can be quickly learned

Senior Trial Associate EducationJuris Doctor degree from accredited law schoolBachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or relevant coursework obtained through an MBA.Current Texas state bar admission
