About the Role
The Specialist Statutory Accounting role is primarily responsible for assisting in the delivery of statutory reporting obligations to regulatory bodies. This includes the following:
Statutory Reporting:Where applicable, planning and coordination of audit of multiple statutory financial statements.Understand content and requirements for completing and lodging statutory financial statements in various jurisdictions.Prepare timelines that are inclusive of all stakeholder engagement and ensure deadlines are met.Utilize financial statement preparation tools to complete financial statements; including preparation of the financial statements, adjusting journal entries, financial statement note disclosures and document controlLiaise with the external audit firm for planning and execution of audit field work.Liaise with the wider Finance organization to gain additional knowledge to support statutory account preparation.Prepare required Board of Director materials, including an overview of the subsidiary, detailed income statement and balance sheet analysis and accompanying statutory financial statements.Present materials to multiple levels of Finance management
Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or FinanceCPA preferred but not requiredMinimum of 5 years' experience in accounting, Oil and Gas exploration and production activities preferredDemonstrated experience working in SAP (or similar large ERP system) general ledger, business warehouse and consolidation system environmentStrong analytical skills with focus on accuracy, validation and problem solvingSuperior interpersonal skills to handle various customer and stakeholder groupsAbility to communicate and provide financial information to leadersProven ability to deliver longer-term projects and to operate in a deadline driven environmentTrack record of identifying and implementing process improvement initiativesDemonstrated working knowledge of accounting principles and financial statement preparation.
