Job Summary
The Director of Development and Programs will play a pivotal role in defining and implementing our organization's fundraising objectives, establishing both short- and long-term goals. In addition to driving the financial success of the organization, this position will oversee the operational excellence of innovative vocational programs, ensuring effective team management, program delivery, and rigorous quality control and evaluation processes.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in special education, counseling, psychology, rehabilitation services, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, or related field required. Proven experience working with individuals with disabilities (five years minimum) required. Proven experience as program director or other managerial position (five years minimum) required. Proven experience supervising and developing transition programs as well as grant development preferred. Thorough understanding of project/program management techniques and methods. Excellent knowledge of performance evaluation techniques and key metrics. Detail oriented with excellent communication skills and record keeping. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite programs. Adaptable, independent, creative thinker with a solution-oriented mindset. Ethical judgment and discretion with confidential information. Proven strength in hiring, recruiting, managing, developing, coaching, and retaining individuals and teams, empowering them to elevate their levels of responsibility and performance. Excellent planning and organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects at once, meet deadlines, and produce consistent, measurable results. Must have comfort and aptitude to work with people of various backgrounds. Must have dependable transportation. Must have a driving record acceptable to WE Inc.’s insurance company for coverage, plus auto liability coverage that meets WE Inc.’s requirements.
Responsibilities
Programs –
Design and implement goals for new and innovative programs according to the mission and strategic objectives of the organization. Plan the programs from start to completion involving curriculum, deadlines, milestones, metrics, and processes. Develop and/or approve budgets and operations. Devise evaluation strategies to monitor performance and determine the need for improvements. Supervise all program and project managers involved to provide feedback and resolve complex problems. Discover ways to enhance efficiency and productivity of procedures and clients served as well as staff members involved. Ensure program operations and activities adhere to legal guidelines and internal policies. Keep senior management and board members informed with detailed and accurate reports or presentations. Manage the regulations, paperwork, and service provision of Medicaid funded programs. Develop forms and records to document program activities. Follow EOS for management of program including preparation of progress reports, set and meet scorecard metrics, and deliver on established Rocks. Recruit, interview, and select well-qualified program staff members as the programs grow and flourish. Cultivate existing relationships with vendors, community groups, companies, and schools with the goal of ensuring sufficient resources and access to services. Stay current on laws and regulations related to programs developed and supervised.
Development –
Work with Executive Director to develop a written annual plan for the fund development efforts and goals of WE Inc. Research, write, and submit grant proposals in partnership with the Executive Director including funding proposals for programs to ensure the new and continuous delivery of services. Develop and send a quarterly fund appeal, alternating between electronic and hard copy appeals. Draft thank you letters for each appeal and for general use in partnership with the Executive Director. Oversee data entry and accuracy, gift processing, tracking, acknowledgments process, recording of actions and communications (including “clean-up”) completed by Executive Assistant. In cooperation with and support of volunteer leadership, direct all aspects of the WE Inc. Junior Board including recruitment, maintaining list of prospective members, orientation, communications, and the coordination of activities. Work with the leadership team to translate critical needs into specific giving opportunities for donors and develop plans to secure these gifts. Work with the Executive Director to plan and implement annual fundraising events, including planning for soliciting sponsorships. In partnership with the Executive Director, implement guidelines for donor stewardship and recognition, with the intent of making the giving experience satisfying and rewarding. Ensure that stewardship activities include maintaining donor records, thanking donors in a timely manner and often, and ensuring that gifts are used according to each donor’s designation.

Typical Working Conditions: Work is performed in an office and throughout the community in various workplaces or meeting locations. Work may require sitting for long periods of time, standing, and public speaking. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer, telephone, copier, and other office equipment as necessary. Requires normal range of hearing. Requires driving, primarily locally, but occasionally regionally. Involves contact with staff, people served, and the public. Work Hours: This is a full-time, exempt position. Hours will vary based on events, but typical work hours are 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Salary Range
