📋 Role Overview & Responsibilities
OverviewThe Associate Designer’s primary responsibility is to facilitate the development process of new styles. This role works in support of the Creative Director/Owner to design and develop innovative products. This role is a special opportunity for a creative individual who has vision and drive related to branding and design. As a designer for YLLW, you have the rare opportunity to be a part of a growing business with no limits.
ResponsibilitiesThe Associate Designer will contribute to the creation, development, and execution of clothingContribution to the design process including sketching new ideas with the help of Procreate and Adobe Illustrator programs, researching new trends and ideasSupport creative storyboarding and annual collection strategyExecute specific design development projects as assigned by the Creative Director/OwnerResponsible for certain styles and communication with factories for those styles.Design, execute, and make repeating prints for collections.Create detailed spec sheets including key measurements, fabrics, and trim for all specified products. Assist team members with all developments & communication as needed. Manage development and execution of all specified design packages and follow up with factories.Manage timelines of specified products from sampling to point where final samples can be handed off for PO placement.Conduct fit reviews and take notes. Communicate fit and construction details to cross-functional partners. Participate in research and report on industry trend direction, color direction, and fabric innovations that can relate to the YLLW customer.
SkillsMust skill for this role: Excellent hand and computer sketching/ CAD skills in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop as well as basic knowledge of Procreate. Strong sense of technical design understanding and passion for technical portion/construction and making of garmentsProactive, organized, and passionate about the intersection of creative and practical design1-3 years minimum experience in design and/or product development
