General Foreman Structural Steel

Job Description

General Foreman Structural Steel will oversee and manage a iron/structural steel crew that construct iron/steel structures to specifications.

Responsibilities

Read blueprints and specification to determine the scope of work: locations, quantities, and sizes of materials required.Identify all tools required for tasks.Identify safety risks and the precautions required to eliminate those risks.Manage multiple crews in regards to scheduling, processes and sequences, time, and cost.Illustrate in-depth knowledge of all iron/steel processes.Hoist equipment and tools into a location via bull rigging or crane.Verify vertical and horizontal alignment of structural-steel members, using plumb bobs, laser equipment, transits, and/or levels.Connect columns, beams, and girders with bolts, following blueprints and instructions from supervisors.Bolt aligned structural-steel members in position for permanent riveting or bolting.Pull, push, or pry iron/steel equipment into approximate positions for bolting into place.Cut, bend, and weld iron/steel pieces, using metal shears, torches, and welding equipment.Other duties as assigned.

Must have 4+ years of experience as a Structural Ironworker, and 2+ years in a supervisory position.Must possess all Knowledge Skills and Abilities for positions (see below).Must be able to meet all physical requirements.Must be able to work at heights in excess of 300 ft.Must have reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications

Zachry ROF’ed employee.Former Zachry Employee.National Center for Construction Education and Research’s (NCCER) Certification for Journeyman Ironworker.Basic Computer efficiencyFormal/technical education.
