JOB PURPOSE

Lab Tech I is an entry level position. Under close supervision where operations and sequences are specified by written and verbal instructions and established practices, the Lab Tech I will perform routine production duties associated with the lens manufacturing processes.

KEY DATA

Exceptional attendance record and acute attention to detail are essential to all job functions. Good verbal and written communication and an ability to read English and identify number recognition are also critical skill sets. Analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to work in a fast paced, multi-task production environment essential. May require vision and / or color hue recognition testing. Use of personal protective equipment is required. Must be able to sit, stand, twist and bend for extended periods of time. Must follow safety guidelines with the ability to identify and understand safety items. This includes the ability to keep a clean working environment. Must have a flexible schedule and work overtime when needed. Must have the ability to work in a team setting or independently, as needed. A strong desire to learn is critical, including a positive attitude and approach to work. Manufacturing skill set and experience a plus. May perform other duties as needed.

Must have entry level knowledge of at least one department. Tasks may be routine and will be under direct supervision. Basic knowledge of frame and lenses is preferred. Cross training will be required within the department and may include:

Inventory: Stocking, Auditing, PickingSurfacing: Taping, Blocking, Ink Marking, Alloy Management, Generating, Engraving, De-blocking, Backside Coating, Wash-Up, Sorting, Routing, Tools, Fining, PolishingCoating: Scribing, Washline, Stripping, Sorting, SandblastingComputer use.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs routine production duties associated with various aspects of lens production paying close attention to quality, quantity and efficiency. Refer to the Job Matrix for further departmental specifics. Qualifies and inspect product to ensure compliance with CZV specifications and standards.Comply with all safety regulations as well as maintain a clean and safe work environment.Maintain appropriate written and/or computer documentation.Generally assigned some tasks within a specified department but may receive cross training on new tasks.Additional tasks as needed.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Participate in meetings to enhance departmental communication and efficiency.May be assigned to different workstations or product lines as production needs require.May train peers.

JOB CONDITIONS/COMPLEXITY

May have exposure to noise and flammable solvents. Must wear applicable protective safety equipment. Some overtime may be required.

Works on problems of limited scope. Generally follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained.

EQUIPMENT USED

May be assigned to one or more of the following machines: Taping Machine, Blocker, Generator, Finer & Polisher, Wash line, Backside Coating Machine, AR Coating Machine, Lensometer, Finish Blocker, Edger, Hand Etchers, Groover, Drill, Hand Tools, and other machines as determined by management.

Safety equipment and basic office equipment such as computer and calculator may be assigned as determined by management.
